Effective 21 September 2026
These terms govern your use of Muriel. By creating an account you agree to them.
Muriel is an information tool. It searches public drinking-water monitoring data and federal regulations and helps you reason about them.
This section matters more than any other, so it is not buried.
You remain responsible for your own regulatory obligations. Nothing here transfers any of them to us.
Give accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. One account per person. Do not share logins. Tell us promptly if you think an account has been compromised.
Do not: resell or redistribute the service without a written agreement; scrape or bulk-export the data for a competing product; attempt to breach or overload the service; use it unlawfully; or misrepresent its output as an official determination by a regulator.
Use is metered in credits, which correspond to the computing cost of answering. Each account gets a monthly allowance for its plan. Allowances do not roll over. Your credit ledger is visible on your account page, itemised, so you can check our arithmetic.
Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Prices may change on 30 days' notice; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for. Taxes are yours where applicable.
Cancel at any time from your account page or by emailing us. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Cancelling does not by itself delete your account — ask us if that is what you want.
Your questions and documents remain yours. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service: to process them, send them to our model provider for an answer, and store them so you can see your own history. We claim no other rights and do not use your content to train models.
We aim to keep Muriel running but offer no uptime guarantee on any current plan. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely we will give reasonable notice and refund any prepaid unused period.
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including regulatory penalties, remediation costs or lost business.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not deliberate we will give notice and a chance to fix it first.
We may update these terms and will give notice of material changes by email or in the product. Continuing to use Muriel afterwards means accepting them.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction. Confirm this matches where the company is actually established before publishing.
